Sarah Mucha is a political reporter who has worked for outlets like Axios and CNN based in Washington, D.C. Since joining the organization in 2021, Mucha has broken several stories in her coverage of the Biden administration and Congress. In the last year, she has exclusively interviewed newsmakers from Glenn Youngkin and Terry McAuliffe during the Virginia gubernatorial election to Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Stolberg and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

She is particularly interested in the American electorate and leads Axios’ monthly coverage of focus groups to take the pulse of swing voters across the country. Mucha frequently shares her reporting and analysis on MSNBC, CBSN, C-SPAN and NewsNation, among other networks and radio shows.

Prior to joining Axios, Mucha traveled the country as CNN’s embed assigned to cover Joe Biden’s presidential campaign and transition to the presidency. Before traveling the country on the campaign trail, Mucha worked on CNN’s assignment desk, producing and reporting predominantly from Capitol Hill in addition to various breaking news assignments.

Mucha is fluent in Polish and speaks French and Spanish proficiently. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Politics from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
