Former Deputy White House Cabinet Secretary, Biden Administration
Cristóbal Alex is a senior government, political, and advocacy leader. He serves as partner and head of Tusk Strategies’ Washington, DC office and helps lead Tusk Philanthropies. He currently leads Latino engagement for Future Forward, the super PAC that supports President Biden, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Latino Victory Project. Alex previously served as the White House Deputy Cabinet Secretary, linking the White House and Cabinet, and supporting agency coordination on a portfolio of President Biden’s top priorities—including the historic American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and a whole-of-government approach to promote equity. Among the first hires on the Biden for President campaign, Alex served as a Senior Advisor, where he helped develop and implement state and national strategy, including the primary campaign’s political and coalition efforts. He also served on the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force, and later on the Presidential Transition Team.
Prior to that, Alex was Founding President of the Latino Victory Fund, and helped elect over 70 candidates to office, from the school board to the U.S. Senate. After building the organization, he served as Hillary for America’s National Deputy Director of Voter Outreach and Mobilization. Before his transition into politics, Alex spent five years working with George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and the Ford Foundation, where he managed more than $75 million in grants to strengthen and protect our democracy. Alex began his career as a civil rights lawyer with MacDonald Hoague & Bayless and led the National Campaign to Restore Civil Rights.
